Quarterly ReportFour Priorities for November
Bye-week edition · Four focus areas, with no game played October 31.

Discipline
Make the play count.
The first priority is keeping productive plays on the board. Alignment, substitutions and communication deserve the same attention as the play call. Tennessee cannot keep spending good football on penalties.

Quarterback Execution
Earn the next possession.
MacIntyre gets my vote for the next start. Whoever plays must protect the ball and keep the offense on schedule. The coaches’ decision and our judgment are separate matters; neither quarterback gets a free pass on execution.

The Ground Game
Build around Bishop.
A dependable running game can give a young passer manageable situations and give the defense a useful rest. My preference is to make that a foundation of the November offense, with the blocking and discipline to sustain it.

Finish
Carry it through the fourth.
The final four games offer a chance to give this season a much better ending. Tennessee needs possessions it can finish, stops it can follow with points and fewer chances handed back to an opponent.
