SEC Review Week 5

Saturday, October 3, 2026

Final results · AP rankings released Sunday, October 4

Tennessee got the win it needed. Missouri got the league’s biggest attention grabber. Alabama and Georgia kept winning, and their meeting next Saturday suddenly has two spotless SEC records attached to it.

The Vols leave the weekend 4–1 and 1–1 in conference play, with a No. 15 AP ranking and a quarterback decision to sort out. Arkansas is next. A road trip will demand more offensive consistency, but this defense has given Tennessee a fighting chance two weeks running.

This display is not the SEC’s official tiebreaker order. Kentucky received 160 AP points, two behind No. 25 Pittsburgh, and dropped out despite winning.

What It Means for Tennessee

The Vols moved up two spots to No. 15. That is welcome, but Fayetteville is the immediate business. Tennessee takes a defense that can win critical possessions and a running back coming off a career day. The question is whether the passing game can contribute early enough to keep the next Saturday from becoming another rescue operation.
